SATRC Workshop on Policy, Regulations and Services 8 - 10 May 2023, Islamabad, Pakistan (Hybrid)
The South Asian Telecommunication Regulators’ Council (SATRC) Workshop on Policy, Regulations and Services was held from 8 - 10 May 2023 in Islamabad, Pakistan with both physical and virtual/online attendance through Zoom meeting (hybrid format). A total of 173 participants including Members and Affiliate members attended the workshop. The workshop was hosted by Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA).
The opening session of workshop was graced by Mr. Navid Ahmed Shaikh, Honorable Federal Secretary, Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication, Pakistan who was invited as the Chief Guest.
The SATRC Workshop on PRS is a part of the implementation of SATRC Action Plan Phase VIII (SAP-VIII) for 2022-2023 approved by the 22nd SATRC meeting held in 2021 virtually. The objective of this workshop was to share insights, experiences, best practices as well as engage in dialogue to identify the challenges, opportunities, and possible way forward on the Work Items under the SATRC Working Group on Policy, Regulation and Services for SAP-VIII. It also provided an opportunity for the SATRC Members, including policy makers as well as industry leaders to share their knowledge, experiences, and insights on various pressing issues. The 3-day workshop saw moderators and speakers from diverse backgrounds across six different thematic sessions which included the Work Item topics and additional topics of interest for SATRC countries.

The 31st Meeting of APT Wireless Group (AWG-31) 22 - 26 May 2023 Ha Noi, Viet Nam (Hybrid)
The 31st Meeting of the APT Wireless Group (AWG-31) was held from 22 to 26 May 2023 in Ha Noi, Socialist Republic of Viet Nam with physical and virtual/online attendance through Zoom meeting (hybrid meeting). The meeting was hosted by the Ministry of Information and Communications, Socialist Republic of Viet Nam, and was attended by 555 participants from APT Members, Associate Members, Affiliate Members and International Organizations.
During AWG-31, there were sessions of Working Groups, Sub-Working Groups, Task Groups and AFIS Ad-Hoc Group to discuss the work progress on various work items. In addition, AWG-31 discussed the input contributions regarding proposals of new Work Items and adopted 8 new Work Items. Based on the instruction of MC-46 and input contributions as well as discussions in Ad-Hoc Group, AWG-31 developed an internal guideline on improving the use of Questionnaire.
AWG-31 considered 113 contributions and developed following tangible outcomes: · APT Report on technical guideline for spectrum monitoring during major events in Asia Pacific region · APT Report on 5G implementation in frequency bands above 24.25 GHz · APT Report on 5G mmWave OTA test methodology for user equipment · APT Report on current status and future plan of usage in the frequency ranges of 7.125-24 GHz and 92-300 GHz in Asia Pacific region · APT Report on millimetre wave ITS applications in APT countries · APT Report on radio frequency beam Wireless Power Transfer/Transmission (WPT) · APT Survey Report on Wireless Power Transmission for moving machines · APT Report on Ka-band satellite systems for use in the Asia Pacific region and considerations for development of national frequency plans · Revision of APT Report on Information of Mobile Operator's Frequencies, Technologies and License Durations in Asia Pacific Countries · Liaison Statements to: - APG - ITU-R WP5D - 3GPP RAN 3GPP RAN4 - ETSI TC ERM
The next meeting of the AWG (AWG-32) will be held in Q1, 2024.

The 23rd APT Policy and Regulatory Forum (PRF-23) 20 - 22 June 2023, Nadi, Fiji (Hybrid)
The forum will be hosted by the Ministry of Communications, Republic of Fiji. PRF-23 will continue to focus its work in line with the five Strategic Pillars of the Strategic Plan of the APT which serves as the guideline for APT’s activities for 2021-2023. This PRF-23 will consist of special features which are as follows:
1) Special Ministerial Session: A session among Ministers and/or Vice Ministers to share insights, experiences, lessons learned, policies being implemented in their countries with regard to digital government, smart nation and smart island which are in line with the objective of the Singapore Statement adopted by the ICT Ministers of APT. 2) Regulators’ Roundtable: A roundtable among the Heads of the Regulators to share their experiences and practices on regulatory issues and identify the challenges, opportunities and possible way forward towards digital connectivity and digital transformation for sustainable digital society. 3) Business Dialogues: Sessions to provide platform for industry representatives to express their views on conducive ICT regulatory regime, satellite constellations and 5G developments.

The Meeting
of the SATRC Working Group on 4 - 6 July 2023, Maldives
The Meeting of SATRC Working Group on Policy, Regulation and Services is a part of the activities of SATRC Action Plan Phase VIII (SAP-VIII) which was adopted by the 22nd Meeting of SATRC (SATRC-22) held virtually in 2021. It will be the second meeting of the Working Group under SATRC Action Plan Phase VIII and it is expected to discuss and finalize the Work Items assigned to the Working Group by the Council.

3 - 4 August 2023, Bangkok, Thailand
APT will organize the 3rd Meeting of the Correspondence Group for the Strategic Plan of the APT for 2024-2026 (CGSP-3) from 3 to 4 August 2023 in Bangkok, Thailand. CGSP-3 will be held with physical attendance as well as virtual/online participation through Zoom meeting platform (i.e. hybrid meeting).
The objectives of the CGSP-3 are to continue to discuss the initial draft and deliberate further on inputs from the Members and develop the first draft of the Strategic Plan of the APT for 2024-2026. |

The 6th
Meeting of the APT Conference Preparatory Group 14 - 19 August 2023, Brisbane, Australia (Hybrid)
The meeting will be hosted by the Australian Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications and the Arts (DITRDCA). The provisional objectives of APG23-6, as decided by APG23-5, are as follows: · review the results of APG23-5 · review the outcomes of CPM23-2 and 30th meeting of the RAG · finalise APT views on WRC-23 Agenda Items based on input contributions from APT Members · develop Preliminary APT Common Proposals for WRC-23 Agenda Items · review issues related to RA-23 activities and develop APT views, if any · develop Preliminary APT Common Proposals for RA-23, if any · review the activities of other regional organisations, in particular, their positions and common proposals with a view to fostering inter-regional cooperation · arrangement of coordination for RA-23 and WRC-23
