The 14th Meeting of the Regional Inter-agencyWorking Group on Information and Communication Technology (ICT) was held on Wednesday, 11 August 2010 at Meeting Room 702 (located on the 7th Floor of Building B, next to the International Affairs Bureau), Ministry of Information and Communications Technology, The Government Complex, Chaengwattana Road, Laksi, Bangkok, Thailand. The 14th Meeting followed-up of the outcomes of the 13th meeting that was held on 10 June 2009 at the United Nations Conference Centre, Bangkok. The meeting agreed to work towards the establishment of regional disaster management communication capacity in Asia and the Pacific (DCCAP) as an important area interagency cooperation, and recommended to develop the concept further with emphasis on multi-stakeholder public-private partnership approach. This meeting reviewed the concept paper and suggested joint future actions towards building the regional platform for Disaster Communications Management and Capacities. The meeting provided also a venue to exchange views on other issues of ICT development trends, challenges and opportunities, especially for effective disaster risk reduction and socio-economic development in the region where IWG members could work together.
